I would appreciate if you allow admins to ban or mute any name on the ban/mute module, Which means removing some anti-crack restrictions.

I would like to suggest an enhancement for the greeting module in SunLight. Currently, join messages are treated the same for all players, which makes it difficult to provide a unique experience for first-time visitors.

Proposed Feature:

Introduce a “First Join” message type, separate from regular join messages.
The system should automatically detect if a player is joining for the first time (using something like %player_has_played_before% or an internal check).
Both First Join and Regular Join messages should be fully customizable within the greeting module, including text, colors, animations, and icons.
This feature would allow server owners to welcome new players in a more personalized way while maintaining existing join messages for returning players.

This would greatly enhance the onboarding experience for new players and make server greetings more dynamic.

An excellent modular plugin replaces many plugins, but where should I report plugin bugs?

Great plugin! The only thing missing from the tab, scoreboard, and nametags modules is direct compatibility with luckperms, like in NEZNAMY's TAB plugin. Specifically, nametags and tab display must be configured manually, whereas the aforementioned plugin already does this directly.

This plugin is simply flawless, but there is one issue for me. The plugin does not register a “no permission” message for some commands, so the player ends up seeing a message saying that the command does not exist. Please fix it bro

After testing SunLight for two months I can give my honest opinion, the idea is not bad, but I do not like the behavior of throwing shit to the competition and not focus on fixing their own bugs. For a server in production it is not better than Essentials, multiple errors are presented and in their Discord they don't give you a solution, they took 30 days to fix a bug of a module as important as the Warps System so that now with a “recode” 800 more errors are presented, changes that ruin your configuration. For example: I can't find a way to make the Warps Module work despite having tried to regenerate most of the related folders. Recommending it is also useless, it ends up leaving you bad with all the errors that are presented.

Definitely if you are thinking about using it for your production server THINK TWICE and use ESSENTIALS which will not give you any performance problem :)

That does not mean the code is “AI-generated,” it means I used a tool to improve readability and maintainability. That’s called good engineering practice.

Comments are meant to:

make maintenance easier
prevent confusion later
keep a big project understandable

2) “Deleting the old repo doesn’t change much / you tried to hide it”
Wrong again. The repository change was not to hide anything. OreoEssentials moved to V2, which is a different version and structure. A V2 rewrite/reorganization is normal for a project that evolves. Next time, please learn the updates before making claims you don’t understand.

Linking to a commit and saying “look, AI comments” proves only one thing: some comments were written with help which I already confirmed. It does not prove the plugin “barely works,” it does not prove the project is fake, and it does not justify harassment or rating attacks.

So this plugin IS HORRIBLE , i tried it for 10 min i couldnt resist i had to delete it ,
I’ve been a long-time user of CMI and I’m currently using OreoEssentials since day one, so I’m speaking from real experience with all three plugins.
After testing Sunlight, I can confidently say it does not compare to OreoEssentials, despite what the description suggests. In terms of features, stability, polish, and overall execution, OreoEssentials is simply on another level. CMI is also far more mature and complete.

SECONDLY jealousy ? because OreoEssentials got more attention form people the owner of this plugin started a coordinated attack alongside other people to lower the plugin's rating ( Which is one of the reasons why he is posting this on his description )

One thing users have to know OreoEssentials > CMI > Sunlight
And all this guy knows how to answer is AI slope but he doesn't know what it is , OreoEssentials easily beats His Old useless plugin

it doesn't replace the command name, please fix it

Tried in production, not better than essentials unfortunately, contains various unfixable bugs not matter what you do in the configs and the latest version has way to many breaking changes which I spent tens of hours configuring and tried to update my configs to use the new version but I gave up after finding out it has many bugs and errors while using the plugins and planning to uninstall it next week and replace its functionallity with skript and other plugins.

Compatibility was the only thing people where requesting to improve the plugin, there wasnt any need to just make a ton of breaking changes and change a bunch of stuff increasing the number of bugs

I've encountered some errors that I didn't have in previous versions, and they haven't updated it yet. I'm waiting for them to update so I can launch my server; that's the last thing I need.

The latest update broke all the plugin’s features. In 1.21.8 it was a great plugin, but now it simply doesn’t work properly, and the developer hasn’t updated it. It used to be a great plugin — now it’s just a nightmare to get working because of the number of bugs.

I am currently using SunLight v3.14.0 along with nightcore v2.10.0 on my server. Recently, I updated my server core to Paper 1.21.10, but unfortunately, the plugin is now showing up in red in the /plugins list and fails to enable.

It seems there is a compatibility issue with the latest 1.21.10 NMS. Could you please let me know if there is an updated Dev Build or a fix available for this version? I really love the plugin and would like to keep using it on the latest Minecraft update.

The Wiki is missing a few things and sometimes is a bit annoying to find and edit parts of the plugin (Ex: player names are under TAB module and it isn't mentioned on the Wiki, some extra features are also not on the Wiki)

With that aside, Sunlight is goated

NightExpress sucks! Is overtly rude and mean when he refuses to give support. Won't even ALLOW you to ask for community support

He replied that this is a false statement, but not only is it indeed true but he also banned me from the discord after leaving the review. He said I should have put it in the community support channel, but guess what there isn't any on his discord. Wasn't too difficult, because it was impossible do to poor structure.

Great plugin! It's really useful and well-coded. However, it would be even better with more translation options, especially a full French translation. Looking forward to future updates!

The plugin itself is fine, the problem is the creator and his support team when it comes for help, they are very rude and always think that the problems starts from you and not the plugin, if it wasn't for this attitude I would have used the plugin

This is the best I have translated and configured. All the settings you can easily go through and adjust them to your way and configure everything in a simple way, also if you want to change the style just modify color.yml in nightcore.

Only leaving the review to counter some lower star ratings since i think they are being unfair.

This is the perfect alternative to essentials/cmi, you can find most errors already discussed on the plugins spigot thread and from there on the plugin allows you to Disable the feature that you DO NOT wish to have/might be faulty and choose an alternative, the amount of customization options is why i value this highly.

No plugin is perfect, but this is a darn strong contender to the other options.

Doesn't have the capacity to realize the importance of supporting v1.17-1.18 , these mc "devs" are sellout pawns that mojang is actively using to replace multiplayer servers with microsoft realms.

Hello, the plugin is wonderful, but it did not work for my server because there are no necessary commands, namely: /msgtoggle and /paytoggle (optional) and of course placheloders for this, if you add this, then I will switch to it from cmi.

While I do really like this plugin and the features it offers, I am somebody with a server that needs lots of customization. This plugin is PAINFUL to customize. It uses a weird mini-message like message customization with the core API it uses, and it is very, very, very weird to work with. You can't use a minimessage generator since it breaks things, so configuration takes so damn long with this plugin. If you don't care what your messages look like, though, then go for this plugin. For now, I will be sticking with essentials, though.

There is no reason for me to rate this plugin anything lower than 5 stars.
Unlike Essentials or CMI, it has kept its file system clean and systematically, not clattering everything in one config file.

But some bug fixes are required like, turning of the chaat module shows up unnecessary exceptions with an additional exception in-game.

I am the guy on your discord who complained to you about World_Name_Capitalization and world importer only working with lowercase_world_name. if you fix the methods to allow uppercase i will change this review to 5 stars. Please understand that it was about a 2-3 hour headache just to get told that uppercase letters in world names are not supported. Please fix it bro.

Terrible support and buggy design. Essentialsx is a better option. Configuration files are the why the review is so low. It is very customizable and has missing features within the files. Making hard for you to dig through all these files to find what your after. Worst choice because I was stuck with this for a long time.

Good plugin, nice message style but please fix the translations some cannot be traslated even manualy in confing for example "error wrong aguments usagge " , "enlabled" , disabled".

It's a pity you can't create a top list of plugin authors here—this author would definitely take first place. The guy clearly knows what he's doing; everything works flawlessly, and the support is top-notch. If I could, I'd replace all my plugins with his. The only thing that worries me is the thought that he might stop working on it.

I want to use it so badly, but as a network, it's missing things I would love to have. I did make a few suggestions for it, but they seem to fall on deaf ears.

That's not to say there is no support, because there is, and usually it's quite fast.

Things like vanish/AFK don't have metadata, so plugins like "Tab" do not pick it up. Chat options are good, but not cross-server (not a sunlight flaw)

There is also some rather unintuitive configuration. It's not a problem, but it requires some reading, which is not so friendly to newcomers to the plugin.

Converting player balance is possible from essentials. Which is nice, but nothing else. (homes etc.. are not) Also going back to it doesn't seem possible, without losing all this data, unfortunately. So it's definitely a choice for the long term if you go with this.

If you just have an SMP server and want nothing more. This plugin does have it all.

10/50 I love it, it got clean ui plus clean guis plus isn't like wierd text like essentialsx has easy to use + i love gui for kits n priority for them, would be pain to make using skript Ty for making this

I dont understand the lower ratings. This plugin is great, does as advertised, gets regular updates and is FREE.

The only thing that hurts me like the light in my eyes. These are incompatibilities with lower versions of Minecraft. Your plugins do not support lower versions. I can't say anything bad about this plugin. but nighcore creator, if you can, please add compatibility with at least version 1.16.5, moving forward doesn't always mean getting rid of what's old and solid, my opinion is only about this.

I just hope not to have compatibility problems in the future because this is my first try, because I have the Dungeons plugin and it manages Scoreboards from memory

I really dont know what everyone see on this plugin. It bloats the console with registering commands for no apparent reason. The config itself is hard to read even for someone like me who configuring server setups for money and only bright side is a manual.

When i loaded onto server it just started controling all over server things i already set up and messes up chat, world loading and even ban system. Its good that it have these features, but it should not load modules on first start, only core and lets player decide what he wants on or off.

I really tried to understand all of the things, but as a "essentials replacement" is it really hard to know what something do... It is not replacement at all... It is a BIG step up like CMI, just smaller. At least essentials have all their settings in one config, same with CMI. There you have settings all over the place with only one indicator what what does and it is the manual.

Final experience is -> if you want to replace essentials for something better, search more... If you want something like essentials and have more things, pay for CMI

I have been using this plugin way before the big update and I must say, it have been a lot better by the day it gets new updates. This plugin alone have been a resource saving for me as all-in-one plugin and clear documentation & everything is really easy to setup. maybe lazy-to-read people might rate it low but whatever.

I also knew that the dev have been working alone on vast amount of other plugins, supports only left on the dev alone with minimal help from community, I may suggest setup a helper if its not a hassle.

overall, the claim of the best Essentials / CMI alternative is truly leave up to its name. I stop using Essentials and CMI because of this. Good job Night!

Theres a lot of good things but a lot of cons so
Cons:
Scoreboard only works on the version aka if the server is 1.20.4 and you connect on 1.20.1 the scoreboard will NOT work

On no countdowns for example /home or /spawn do NOT have countdowns

Those are my big issues with the plugin when this is fixed ill change my review

good plugin! when will big update come? i try building from github by using sourcecode, but it can not work.

Pros:
1) Much simpler than Essentials.
2) Parts of the plugin are separated into modules that you can turn off.
3) Most of it is easy to understand.
Cons:
1) Documentation is lacking in places.
2) You're encouraged to join the Discord, but the help there is severely lacking.

If you want to really work at making it work, or if you don't need a lot from an essentials style plugin, it's good.

If you're trying to make the most of it and you don't want to slog through configuration with little to no help, it might not be for you.

Maybe I caught the developer in an off week, but I was unable to get simple issues addressed, let alone resolved by them or their community.

The best of the best, I've been using this plugin for a long time and it's one of the best core plugins in my mind. The big update is almost complete, and I'm looking forward to it.

The plugin is nice, but the producer of the plugin does not respond to any support, does not respond to questions, bans people from its server and deletes the bad comments made here.

Excellent plugin, more simple to edit and more good looking than essentials and cmi with more features, but updates take a long time to come out, i know the owner have other plugins and this is free, but if is possibly you can consider to have other person that helps you to maintain this plugin because this is base plugin of much server and no having fast update to next version can make lose some players.

Love nights other work, sadly i think this plugin lacks the attention it deserves, atm all the users of this plugin are in limbo, waiting for an update that will make us use new configs, essentialy wiping all of our work, we have been told it would be done in a week, that has turned into a month. other factors like mising a warm up to teleport commands forced me to move to other plugins like advanced teleport, but sunlight doesnt have a toglable modual for /tpa so now advanced tp doesnt work. I love most of nights work they are an amazing dev. But this plugin is more toruble than its worth for me, and i have decided to delete it and switch back over to essentials.

Awful "Out of Box Experience". For some reason (seemingly) every feature is enabled by default, so I spent 20 min trying to find basic settings before ultimately giving up and reverting back to EssentialsX. First off, local chat is the default for some reason. Then I lost some players because they were freaked out by the scoreboard, placeholder VIP benefits advertisements, and being smited due to lag, which also broadcasts to the server that they were warned - on a server that is meant to be "vanilla-like". Too much is going on by default for this to be labeled as an "Essentials Alternative", which is very bare bones.

Buen plugin pero aun no es del todo estable y compatible tuve muchos problemas para crear un mundo y el simple hecho de que te obligue a usar un menú para todo es molesto ya que si algo falla y no abre el menú no puedes hacer nada siempre tira error con Nexengine, falta mas desarrollo y mejorar algunas cosas pero van por buen rumbo. No es tan bueno como sus competidores pero tampoco es el peor de momento essentials gana por ser mas practico y compatible.

I really liked your plugin, I even thought this could be the new EssentialsX replacement, but I ran into some issues that I found a little annoying, that's the Channels feature, I can't find a way to disable it without having to do it. deactivate it. the entire Chat module. On the other hand, I didn't see anywhere how to get the Nametag system to work and what permission it requires to display. I looked in the plugin documentation and nothing.

The translation is still somewhat bad for Spanish, since it is still in English.

All of the above aside, it is an excellent plugin and I recommend it.

Это действительно лучшая альтернатива Essentials!
При переходе сервера на 1.20, в Essentials я столкнулся со множеством проблем, такие как отсутствие физики воды, отключенный спавн мобов, и множеством багов.
Тогда, я решил попробовать sunlight, не ожидал чего-то особенного, но этот плагин удивил меня как никогда. Всё выглядит красиво и аккуратно, удобно, и легко настраивается.
Система модулей настолько удобна, что попробовав этот плагин, я уже не смогу использовать другие. Не знаю, как я раньше вел сервера без него.

Были и трудности, например - при динамическом взрывы. При них, ресурсы с сундуков не падают, что создавало массу проблем. Так-же, хотелось бы поддержку русского языка.
Но не смотря на это, этот плагин все равно очень хорош. Я обязательно буду использовать его на всех следующих серверах, и уже рекомендую всем знакомым, что ведут свои сервера.

Owner words about best alternative is really true. on default sunlight is done really god. You don;t have to go in jar file to delete or customise messages like in essentials. I think sunlight is best free alternative

Best alternative of cmi, essentials !! But sunlight have big minus . command reload on newest version of plugin is not working properly. getting null. on version 1.20

It would be even better if we could add support for Geyser/Floodgate (used to determine if the player is a Bedrock Edition player and provide specialized optimizations) (of course, if there are relevant plugins on the market, please let me know their names.)

This is a great plugin and I use it because it is much better optimized for large online, although I have bought cmi.
It lacks some features like:
ptime - custom time of day that only he can see.
setting a delay on certain commands for certain groups of players.
setting a timer before teleportation for certain groups of players

excellent work of the plugin, except for some moments: 1.when entering the /teleport accept command, you need to enter the full nickname 2.editing /ignore through the gui does not work 3.in the /inventory open command, you cannot prohibit taking things from the player’s inventory 4. there is no ptime personal time command

After alot of trial and error talking with Dev we finally got my issue resolved. Support is very good and will continue to use this plugin as long as its updated. Thanks for all the help.

The plugin itself works very well, but the justification for my assessment is that if you need support, it is unlikely that they will answer your question or problem you have with the plugin, apparently the owner answers some and not others, sometimes they are simple questions to know if the plugin does such a thing, since the wiki is useless, since it has no documentation of anything teaching or showing means of what you want to do.

I joined discord and asked why there is no option to link homes in chat with the command /home or /homes and the dev said that /homes shows homes in GUI but I don't like GUI and asked to at least give option to show homes in chat. Dev replied that he will not return this option. I then hired a programmer to create this option. It's ready, /home and /homes commands can list players' homes in chat, in addition to /home player: with permission for the admin to list and teleport between homes. In addition to 2 placeholders to show the number of homes set and the maximum number of homes, anyone who wants to just call me in private. Plug in function is complete, can replace a lot of plug-ins, configuration and simple!

This plugin is very very util and good. It include all fonctionalities utils for a minecraft server. I like the small things who make this plugin very good.

essentials is great plugin but this one have the mysql data support, that means you can share economy,nickname and so much more to be transfer in servers, by the way it's have great friendly playerwarp,warp and spawn system built in that have so much options (i mean a lot) and good news still under development and get update and bugfixes

This plug-in is very good. Some of my 1.16.5 servers have started using this plug-in. But it doesn't support 1.12.2, so several of my 1.12.2 servers can't use this plug-in. Hope to support version 1.12.2.

Has the author changed the tp transmission in the new version? The current version uses the right-click transmission function of VoxelMap on the server, because the original version of the tp function is covered by the plug-in. It was okay when 1.14.4, but now it can’t. Hope it can be solved

Hi NightExpress, I would really appreciate if you update your plugins to version 1.16.5.

Excellent but poor at the same time, I will even mention a list of the things that do not work:

- It claims to be compatible with placeholders but NO! The result will always be %placeholder_text%

- Placeholder of /playerlist does not show anything, only the number of users, completely ignores the ranks.

- Placeholder of /playerinfo "connected time" does not show numbers you only get "Min, sec."

- Command "/Nickname" when you use it as a normal user it appears that you can only use 20 characters, despite being 10 or fewer characters

- Mention that commands can be disabled, to avoid incompatibility with other plugins, example in this case the / nick command does not work with the sunlight plugin, but I decided to download another dependency that makes this command work well, guess what? If you disable the nick command from sunlight, YOU DISABLE ALL.

AMONG OTHER PROBLEMS...

So far the support and the developer's treatment seems bad to me, he usually answers arrogant and reluctantly.

Hope to fix it soon, since the plugin has some very promising things.

One of the best resources for a survival server, saves a lot of time and gives a new air to the player with the mechanics it brings and above all well optimized.

This is a very good plug-in, light and compact, although some functions have a little problem, but I give 5 stars.

An absolutely fantastic core that has just about anything a server really needs to stay safe. It offers a lot of customization, is lightweight, super intuitive and pretty much ready out of the box! The styling is very neat aswell and the wiki is very well documented!

This is an amazing plugin. It was like essentials came together with all of the other essential plugins for your minecraft server. Although the plugin itself is great I constantly find myself having to poke through the code to find specific variables for specific entries when configuring, because of a lack of information on the wiki. It is outdated and some web pages don't even load! If you do not have experience programming plugins you will not be able to do what I have so I will assume your experience will be much worse than mine. I haven't configured anything else but the gui so far but I'm praying for my future self. After reading the reviews I am praying harder for when I have to do permissions. I am only tolerating using this plugin because I think its future holds great things.

tldr; Its an outstanding plugin but the wiki is god awful. You will defiantly be left scratching your head and extremely frustrated when configuring this plugin just because of the lack of information.

When we talk about the main component, it is unacceptable that it is paid or closed source.

The best alternative of essentials, i like that everything is separated by subfolders and that you can disable things that don't interest.
The wiki is poor but it has enough information to know what to do.

Outdated wiki... The old wiki was ok, now i can't find some permission nodes and commands. Please, update the new wiki, this plugins is awesome, but i can't figure it out all of the commands/permissions by myself. Other than that, awesome work.

You don't have anywhere close to all the nodes and commands on the wiki... I'm guessing most of the nodes at the moment to try and give people permissions.

i gotta be honest, the whole anti-spam thing is ridiculous. i would rather get spammed by a player than by this plugin. its obnoxious especially when youre op and typing in the same command/similar command and you get some dumb anti-spam msg in chat. legit sorting thru perms and commands and getting nonstop "you cant spam this command", like stfu already.

At the moment I am testing the complement because I saw it as a very modern Essentials, the only fault I have so far is to reload the complement with / sunlight reload, it seems to me that something is wrong, and this causes the complement to fail

Pretty decent plugin, however - it should be updated more frequently and some kind of API would be very helpful. You may consider making the plugin open source, so people can help you with development with eg. making pull requests or reporting issues (github). Anyway - plugin is good and modern replacement for Essentials/X.

I love the author's module system. This removes unnecessary features and reduces the time spent managing features that are not needed.

Has lots of great features, but there is lots of bugs. Warps don't work right when they are in other worlds (dont load), player nicknames dont persist, between other small glitches, just not worth it. Starting the data migration to essentialsX

Best Essentials alternative out there for smaller servers, I have halfed the amount of plugins I had by installing this. There are so many useful features, like the worlds-AddOn and the GUI-AddOn.
