UnstableSMPDeathSound is a server-side Paper plugin for SMPs that want death to matter more. It adds a configurable death sound, optional death punishments, nearby-only system messages, chat control, and an immortality system for special players.


Why use it?

  • Play a custom sound whenever a player dies.
  • Use modern sound keys like ENTITY.WITHER.SPAWN.
  • Keep compatibility with legacy sound names like ENTITY_WITHER_SPAWN.
  • Limit death sound playback to nearby players only.
  • Restrict join, quit, and death messages to nearby players.
  • Disable chat entirely or switch it to proximity chat.
  • Kick or ban players on death.
  • Mark players as immortal so lethal damage is prevented.
  • Reload the plugin config without restarting the server.
  • No client mod required.

Configuration highlights

Installation
